Our traditional frames and stretchers are constructed from selected poplars. Classified as both a hardwood and a softwood, they retain qualities from both categories which are best suited for artists’ use. As one of the hardest of softwood, they exhibit excellent strength and stability with little tendency toward shrinking and warping; and as one of the softest of the hardwood, their medium density renders them as lightweight, while enabling them to accept nails and screws without splitting.
These valuable versatilities contribute greatly to the structural integrity of our products. Together with our engineered designs, they offer our artist superior durability and handleability.
